Starship is in Australia!
We are currently in Newcastle, Australia
after a sudden end to the 2008 cruising season. While in Vanuatu Pam
experienced a problem with the vision in her right eye, this eventually lead
to emergency surgery in Sydney. Pam is now recovering with a healthy
prognosis and will be ready to continue the voyage at the conclusion of the
southern hemisphere cyclone season.
Important Dates
On October 11th 2004 at 12:35 pm we cast
off our lines and set sail for the Blind Circumnavigation!
On November 10, 2005, after sailing over
9,000 nautical miles we reached Whangarei, New Zealand becoming the
first legally blind people to cross the Pacific Ocean! We are so
excited about achieving this first major milestone of our circumnavigation!
On October 31, 2008 Scott returned
Starship to Newcastle, Australia allowing Pam to continue the Blind
Circumnavigation from a port at which the pair has independently sailed to
together. The Blind Circumnavigation will continue after the 2008/2009
cyclone season!
